Wild Swimming in Argentina: Natural Pools & Horseback Adventures

Whilst our swimming spots may not offer the freezing temperatures recommended by Wim Hof, here at Estancia Los Potreros we firmly believe that a refreshing dip has a way of solving many of life’s small woes.

Wild swimming may feel like a recent trend elsewhere in the world, but for us it has long been part of everyday life on the estancia. We are lucky to have several natural swimming spots across the farm, many of them accessible on horseback - or on foot, if you prefer. A ride might take you across riverbeds and through steep valleys, before revealing a hidden natural pool, sometimes complete with a waterfall. And if you’re lucky, you may even persuade one of our gauchos to join you. Whatever the weather, our enthusiastic guides are rarely hard to convince. As they like to say this season, “you’ll never regret a swim.”

For those who prefer their dip a little closer to home, a pre-breakfast swim in our newly improved pool may be more your style. Over the winter, we’ve spent time transforming the pool area, and it has quickly become a favourite spot to start the day. There are few better ways to greet the morning than swimming as the sun rises, watching the foals play in the garden below.
