In the hills of Córdoba, where the sierras roll like waves and the wind carries the scent of wild herbs and horses, the heartbeat of Estancia Los Potreros has always belonged to the gauchos.
Not the theatrical, tourist-show gauchos, but the real ones. The men who head out at sunrise to bring in the horses, who know every dip and rise of the land beneath their boots, and whose relationship with horse and cow is built on trust, instinct, and generations of knowledge.
Lucas: Taking the Reins
Lucas, our new headman, grew up with the dust of the estancia in his blood. He’s now leading the gaucho team with confidence, a keen eye for horses, and an unwavering dedication to the Argentine Criollo.
From overseeing the cattle operation to starting young horses, Lucas is shaping the next generation, of animals and gauchos alike.
Yoni: Speed, Skill, and a Sure Hand
Yoni has been part of the fabric of Los Potreros since he was 16 years olf. If you’ve ever watched a fast gallop across rocky hills, followed by a perfect loop of a lasso - chances are, it was Yoni. He’s known for his lightning-fast rides and pinpoint accuracy with a lassoo, whether working cattle or just showing guests how it's done.
His deep knowledge of the land, cattle, and horses comes not from books, but from years of riding it, day in and day out, Yoni has been following in this footsteps of his father since he was little.
Pachi: The Singing Gaucho
Then there’s Pachi, the singing gaucho with a rawhide needle in his hand and a smile never far from his face. Pachi is a true craftsman, sewing rawhide headcollars, reins, and belts in the traditional way - strong, simple, beautiful. His gear is used every day by the gauchos, and admired by guests who see both the function and artistry in it.
But it’s not just his craft that makes Pachi a guest favourite, it’s his warmth, humour, and the way he brings a ride to life. He knows every trail, every shortcut, and every good shady tree to rest under. And if you're lucky, you might hear him singing a folk tune or telling a story that lingers long after the ride is done.
Tomás: Dogs, Hills, and the Start of a Journey
Finally, meet Tomás, one of the youngest members of the crew. He rides to work every day, his dogs running around alongside on cattle days. His love for the horses is clear in the way he talks to them, works them, and listens more than he speaks. With a growing knowledge of the farm and a pack of loyal dogs never far from his side, Tomás is becoming a vital part of the team - watching, learning, and adding his own rhythm to life at Los Pots!
At Estancia Los Potreros, our gauchos aren’t just part of the story - they are the story. Their skills, passions, and personalities shape every ride, every herd movement, every quiet moment watching the sun go down.
They are the keepers of tradition, and the ones carrying it forward.
Come ride with them. Listen. Learn. Laugh. And see the world from the saddle, the way they do with dust on your boots and the sierras stretching wide ahead.
