Four Photographs of Estancia Los Potreros

Pre Arrival Information 2026 - 2027

The Weather

Córdoba enjoys a temperate climate with distinct seasons. The estancia is situated at about 1,100 metres (3,600 ft) above sea level, meaning temperatures are often cooler than in the lowlands. Even in summer, temperatures can drop at night, so it's always wise to bring layers.

Sustainability and Community Engagement

Estancia Los Potreros is deeply committed to sustainable tourism and responsible farming practices. The estancia generates its own power through a combination of wind and solar energy, grows much of its own produce, and actively supports the surrounding community. We also work closely with local authorities on conservation initiatives, including the reintroduction of endangered species to the area.

Please note that, due to our off-grid power system, high-consumption electrical devices (such as hairdryers or travel irons) cannot be used at the estancia. We provide organic, biodynamic soaps and toiletries in all guest rooms. These products are biodegradable, gentle on the skin, and kind to the land and waterways.

Packing List

To help you make the most of your time at Estancia Los Potreros, we've put together a suggested packing list. Life on the estancia combines outdoor adventure, horseback riding, and relaxed downtime, so it's best to be prepared for a range of activities and weather conditions. We recommend comfortable clothing, practical footwear, and layers to stay cozy in the mornings and evenings, while lighter items will keep you comfortable during sunny days. For horseback riding, we suggest appropriate riding gear, though some items can be provided on-site.

Health and Vaccinations

We recommend that all guests seek up-to-date vaccination advice from their healthcare provider or travel clinic before travelling to Argentina. Please ensure you bring a sufficient supply of any personal medication you may require during your stay, as access to pharmacies is limited in rural areas.

Dietary Requirements

Estancia Los Potreros is a working organic beef farm, dedicated to sustainable and traditional ranching practices. Our pork and chicken are sourced locally, while eggs come from our own free-range hens. A wide variety of fresh vegetables and fruits are either grown in our garden or supplied by nearby farms, and feature prominently in our menus. We take great pride in serving fresh, home-cooked meals every day. You can expect freshly baked breads and cakes, delicious local cheeses, and meals that always include one or two vegetable or salad dishes. Fresh fruit is available at every meal. Our chefs prepare all dishes from scratch daily, using the finest local ingredients to create authentic and wholesome meals.

Our kitchen team is always happy to accommodate special dietary needs wherever possible. However, please note that in rural Argentina, the range of specialty products, particularly for gluten-free or lactose-free diets, is more limited than in many other countries. To ensure we can meet your needs, we strongly recommend that any specific dietary requirements are shared with us prior to booking, so we can confirm availability and plan accordingly.

Vegetarian / Pescatarian / Vegan

Due to our remote location, fresh fish is not available, and the only option we can regularly source is canned tuna. Soya-based meat alternatives (such as tofu) are also not available. Guests following a vegetarian or vegan diet can expect a varied and flavourful menu based around vegetables, pulses, and fruits. While soya and almond milks are sometimes available, they may differ in quality from similar products found elsewhere. Nut butters are not available. Please note that there are no non-dairy cheeses available. Afternoon tea and desserts may offer fewer options for vegan or lactose-free diets, though fresh fruit is always available.

Lactose-Free

We can often source plant-based milk substitutes (such as soya or almond milk), though their quality and consistency may differ from those typically found abroad. Nut butters and non-dairy cheeses are not available. Much of our menu can be adapted to exclude dairy products, but dessert and afternoon tea options may be more limited.

Gluten-Free

A small range of gluten-free products (such as biscuits and flours) is available locally, although bread and baked goods may differ in quality from those found elsewhere. Most of our daily menu can be adapted to omit gluten, and our team will take care to avoid cross-contamination wherever possible.
